Autumn is literally my favorite season. Autumn evokes the salted caramel mocha lattes, pumpkin candles, sweet treats, the crisp air which typically leads to cooler temperatures, the beautiful array of sienna hued leaves, and scarfs tied with certain “Je ne sais quois.” Those are just a few of the things that remind me of Autumn: a new season, new opportunities, and ultimately a new wardrobe.
But let’s be honest, if you live in the south then 89-degree weather doesn’t exactly fit with all the fall vibes, let alone your incoming Autumn wardrobe. It probably won’t start feeling cool here until November *fingers crossed*, and neither will the humidity. The good news is you can transition your wardrobe into fall with ease using my Transitioning into Autumn Style Series. This will be my first style series on the blog, and I’m excited about sharing it with you. There are 3 style tips/items in the Transitioning into Autumn Series, here’s #1: The 50/50 rule.
What makes the 50/50 rule so awesome, is that it’s the best of both worlds, helps maximize your wardrobe, adds an unexpected twist to your wardrobe, and more importantly, helps you save money on outfits. As a young professional and grad student, I have to find ways to make my wardrobe versatile. Looks like this make a wardrobe change easy. I’d probably pair this tunic with a pencil skirt and the same heels, maybe even add a blazer. But let’s chat about the 50/50 Rules…
The 50/50 Rule
The 50/50 rule is simple: Keep one half of your outfit Summer and the other half of your outfit Fall . Here’s what I mean
- The Top of your outfit should be a Fall piece! Weird huh? But oh so right.
- I love adding a top with fall colors, a lightweight sweater, duster or lightweight blazer
- The Bottom half of your outfit should be a Summer piece
- I love adding white jeans to my fall outfits it just gives it such a crisp look. You can also add a mini skirt, flowy floral skirt or leather shorts to compliment the look.
- With the mini skirt or leather shorts– Just add tights and boots
One of my favorite Autumn Trends are booties and Over the Knee boots– both of these add spice to the look. Last year, I lived in my Tory Burch OTK boots and Sam Edelman Booties.
This one tip will easily help you transition your wardrobe into Autumn, save you money, and give you a certain effortless chic. I love finding ways to switch up my style and provide you all with new style tips.
