It’s easy to celebrate big victories, but what about the small ones? What about the tiny victories of personal improvement, that no one else sees? You deserve all the hype, sis! For finally finishing the first chapter of your book or finally getting your business started. Trust me, after the last year we’ve all lived through #2020, you best believe we should and deserve to celebrate. We deserve to celebrate life and all it’s nuances, fully and unapologetically.
So in theory all of it sounds good right, but then next question becomes, How? How do I celebrate? How do I take that next step, and how do I unapologetically live life? Yes love, it is your right. So how do you start? I’ve got you covered sis, keep reading.
1. The Mantra: I Deserve
My new mantra & the one I’ve lived by for 2021 is… I deserve. You deserve to celebrate every win, fully and freely. We deserve to rest and take time to recoup. You deserve to focus fully on your business, and develop your own lane. YOU deserve to put your peace and physical + mental health first. So that you can continue to show up for yourself, and for others. I deserve is a good kind of selfish, because it allows you to prioritize & realize, you are worth so much and more sis.
This month, I challenged myself by jotting down an ” I deserve,” list, so I can really see my thoughts & wildest dreams on paper. There’s just something about putting your thoughts on paper. After writing it, it definitely y put some things into perspective.
To clarify, the “I deserve” list can be anything and everything you want it to be. Just make sure its primary focus, is about you and just not what others can do for you. The work, starts with you, sis.
2. The Way: Come prepared, not perfect
Part of showing up for yourself, is letting go of the need to come perfect. Come prepared for sure, sis, but you don’t have to be perfect. The desire to be perfect is rooted in good intentions, but often becomes a road block. Society and social media will have you second guessing and over editing your photos, all to appear perfect.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good edit. They definitely help create an aesthetically pleasing feed, but it’s your soul and your energy that really count. Perfection is a barrier that can keep you from moving forward. It can also keep you from finishing good work, it may not be great but it’s good enough. I’ve In the word of influencing and content creation, it’s not always about showing up perfect, but showing up prepared. As a recovering perfectionist I’ve learned to ask myself three key questions to ward off perfectionism:
- What is the end goal?
- How can I breakdown this task into smaller segments?
- How can I focus on good enough and not perfection?
These questions a step towards beating the perfectionism trap, and if I can do it, so can you. So how do you make your soul and inner light radiate? Keep reading sis!
3. The Vibe: The Secret sauce
The vibe, the je ne sais quoi, and the secret sauce– has always been you. Letting your “inner light” and your soul glow, radiate unhindered is the key to #celebratinglife. It all starts with the inner work, and believing in who you are and who you’re called to be. It’s never been about how people see you or even finding your worth in their eyes or opinions. Instead, focus your energy on how to be your best: physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Whether that’s working out, practicing self-care, reading a book, having a spa day or taking a weekend away! Make yourself a priority, and don’t worry if they do or not. ‘Cause Darling, you are enough! And in the words of Maya Angelou, ” You don’t need another person, place, or thing to make you whole. God already did that, your job is to know it.”
4. The Key: Your focus
The key to anything is your focus. We’ve all heard old adages about “laser sharp focus,” and “honing it in,” but what about defining your focus & choosing 1 to 5 things to focus on? What about not focusing on perfection but focusing on good good work? To beat the perfectionism trap, recognize just how fabulous your work product, vision, and posts already are.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stalled on captions, hesitated to post, ultimately to realize it was already worth posting, already “perfect.” Have you ever noticed that its the posts or projects you don’t think you’re really prepared for you, you end up getting the most compliments & praise concerning? Ironic, but definitely not surprising because instead of choosing and embracing the stress or pressure of perfection– choose to #celebratelife
So how does the Mantra and the key all tie into Celebrating life + every victory? It’s easier than you think and starts with loving yourself, and all that you’ve accomplished. The little things add up, sis. It all starts with you recognizing your worth, refining your focus, and living well. All the while, gleaming all the major keys from your tribe, from podcasts, and from life. Be forever teachable, be okay with showing up imperfect but solid, and most of all believe in your magic. You’ve got this, so all you have to do now is, Celebrate!
